What the heck is What the Funk?!…?

What the Funk?! is an 8-week small group coaching experience designed to help you get out of your funk and find clarity, energy, and direction.

Think of it as a reset button with psychology-informed tools and support to actually build momentum instead of spinning in circles.

The next program kicks off in March 2026, and meets virtually for one hour, once per week.

Final session dates and times will be determined based on group availability once enrollment is complete.

Who’s it for?

What the Funk?! is for anyone who finds themselves in a “funk”—stuck, stagnant, burnt out, lost, or just not feeling like themselves anymore.

Maybe you’re questioning your purpose. Maybe you’ve checked all the boxes you thought would make you happy and, sh*t… you’re still wondering, “Is this all there is?”

How does What the Funk?! work?

Because transformation happens through connection, What the Funk?! combines individual reflection with 8 live weekly group meetings, one-on-one coaching, and a private WhatsApp group.

Weekly Workbooks

  • For 8 weeks, you’ll receive a weekly module that will introduce a new concept along with reflection prompts to answer on your own. 

Live Guided Group Sessions

  • 75 minutes each week for 8 weeks

  • We start each session with a short group improv exercise to get out of your head and into your body

  • Then move into guided reflection on the previous week’s module

  • You’ll have the chance to share your insights, ask questions, and feel supported by other women on a similar journey—while only sharing as much as feels right for you (we see you, introverts).

  • To bring the concepts to life (and because we f*ckin’ need it these days), we’ll sprinkle in fun, creative exercises (with a touch of improv-style playfulness—no comedy experience required!).

  • These exercises help you embody what you’ve been reflecting on, deepen your clarity, and make the transformation process feel a little lighter. It’s about experimenting, connecting, and discovering what lights you up in a supportive, encouraging space.

What you’ll learn

What the Funk?! isn’t a venting circle—we take a psychology-informed journey to the root of the funk to understand how we got here, change the stories, and reclaim our own agency once and for all.

WEEK 1

Identify what’s really driving your funk

Looking at the root (not just the symptoms!) and identifying patterns that keep you stuck.

WEEK 2

Why the Funk?!

You’ll learn what your emotions are trying to tell you, how to stop treating them like problems, and how to respond in ways that create relief and clarity.

WEEK 3

Understand triggers + regulate your nervous system

Understanding your funk and teaching your body safety so you can come back to center faster.

WEEK 4

Break the stuck cycle

Catch the pattern, We’ll map the places you feel most stuck, explore what they’ve cost you, and start making moves that bring you back to aliveness, one brave step at a time.

WEEK 5

Rewire the thoughts and beliefs that keep you looping

You’ll learn practical mindset tools (like CBT-style awareness) to spot automatic thoughts, challenge limiting beliefs, and make choices that align with your values and goals.

WEEK 6

Break up with your old stories and learn how to actually feel what you’ve been avoiding

This is the “great unlearning”: you’ll practice loosening the grip of old narratives, and learn how to process emotions somatically (in your body), so your patterns don’t keep hijacking your life from the shadows.

WEEK 7

Create your authentic life: purpose, boundaries, and a self-led identity

You’ll define what fulfillment means for you, reconnect to purpose as a way of being (not a role or title), and learn how to set friendly-but-firm boundaries so you stop leaking energy and start showing up as your real self.

WEEK 8

Stay un-funked: work with resistance, focus your power, and keep moving forward

You’ll leave with tools to stay grounded after the program—knowing what’s in your control, how to meet resistance with curiosity (instead of self-attack), and how to keep choosing aligned action even when fear gets loud

Practical tools. Journal prompts, daily practices, and mindset shifts you can actually use.

A safe container. This isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about holding space while you face the hard stuff and come out stronger.

Community. You’re not doing this on your own. We grow faster (and have way more fun) together.

Momentum. No, you won’t self-actualize in 6 weeks (sorry, that’s a lifetime gig). But you will get relief, clarity, and direction faster than you think.

Meet your Funky Co-Coaches

We aren’t gurus! We are two friends who, in 2019, found ourselves in our own funks and began chatting weekly to support each other through them. What the Funk?! was born from that experience—Kelly began her earning her MSW and creating the What the Funk?! curriculum, and Megan began her coaching certification and exploring how we could make it an accessible program to people just like you.

Kelly Villmer

Kelly Villmer is a transformational coach with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from UNC Charlotte and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). With a background in mental health, she’s supported clients experiencing anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, and all the messy, beautiful chaos of being human.

After working in private practice, she transitioned from therapy to coaching to bring more creativity, freedom, and fun into the process of transformation. She realized her most authentic way to serve was by following her passion for sharing psychology concepts in a way that really resonates—mixing practical tools with humor, presence, and connection—so she created What the Funk?!

Kelly draws from mindfulness practices, Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work (she’s currently completing her Level 1 certification), CBT and other evidence-based tools—all blended with her background in improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy.

This program is especially close to her heart. Kelly built it to be what she once wished she had during her own painful search for meaning and purpose: a place to explore life’s big questions without feeling like there’s something wrong with you for being human. She knows her clients are already whole, and part of her work is holding a healed vision of them—lending her hope until they can step into it themselves.

When she’s not coaching, you’ll find Kelly singing loudly (mostly on key), playing with her improv comedy team, Fake Adults, hopping on a plane to cross another spot off her bucket list (lookin’ at you, Iceland), ticking off restaurants on her ridiculously long “Must Try” list, or showing up to any event where costumes are “encouraged.”

With a mix of depth, play, and humor, Kelly creates a space where people can get real, get present, and get unfunked—together.

Megan McCarthy

Megan McCarthy is a career coach and branding specialist based in Barcelona, Spain, who draws on 10 years of corporate brand leadership experience and 9 years of running her own business to help people gain clarity and craft ways of working they truly love. She’s passionate about guiding people to create life-first careers—where work fuels their purpose, joy, and profit, instead of running the show.

With a major lust for wandering, Megan is always planning her next adventure and even spent two years solo backpacking around the world (I mean, how fuckin’ cool is that?) as a digital nomad before that was even a thing. Through years of travel, yoga, and meditation retreats in Southeast Asia, Megan embodies her “harmony over hustle” belief—that work and relationships can be crafted around the life you want, not dictate how you live.

When she’s not coaching, you’ll find her doing yoga on the beach in SPF 75+, exploring new cultures, dabbling in improv comedy, or getting a little too chummy scuba diving with sharks.

Megan is truly the person you want by your side when you’re going through it. Her depth comes not only from her professional expertise but also from her lived experience and the way she consistently shows up—for herself and for others. She has a rare ability to guide with clarity, creativity, and compassion, making the process both supportive and transformative.
